About
Dudley Taft carries a famous surname for a reason: he is the great great grandnephew of President William Howard Taft. But his own claim to attention is a serious blues rock career that has been building since the late 1980s. He cut his teeth as a guitarist and songwriter in the Seattle grunge era, first with Sweet Water, whose music ended up on MTV's Daria and Road Rules, and then with Second Coming, who landed a six record deal with Capitol Records and scored two mainstream rock radio hits in 1997 and 1998. After those band years, Taft went solo under his own name and leaned hard into blues. His debut album Left For Dead picked up five star reviews across the board, and subsequent records like Deep Deep Blue, Screaming In The Wind, and Skin and Bones kept landing on blues rock charts in both the US and Europe. He recorded Skin and Bones with Reese Wynans, the keyboardist known for his work with Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the title track reached number one on the Hit Tracks Top 100 in Europe. The European Blues Awards nominated him for Best Guitarist in 2017.
