Kaki King plays guitar in a way most people don't think is possible with two hands and a single acoustic instrument. Her percussive fingerstyle technique, mixing flamenco style tapping with open and viola tunings, made her the sole woman on Rolling Stone's 2006 list of "The New Guitar Gods" and its youngest entry. Her catalog spans everything from fully acoustic solo work to post rock band records, and she's also scored for film and television, contributing music alongside Eddie Vedder and Michael Brook for Sean Penn's Into the Wild, earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score. Dave Grohl is a fan, famously introducing her at the O2 arena in London by saying "and then there's Kaki King" after running out of superlatives. She played on the Foo Fighters track "Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners" and toured with the band through Australia. Her albums move restlessly between styles: the pop leaning Dreaming of Revenge, the indie leaning Junior, the sparse Glow, and eventually the multimedia project The Neck Is a Bridge to the Body, which she crowdfunded before releasing as a standalone album.
