Kali Uchis

About

Also known as: DJ Kali Uchis, Karly Loaiza, Karly-Marina Loaiza

Kali Uchis has a knack for defying easy categorization, blending alternative R&B, neo soul, and Latin pop into something that feels entirely her own. Born Karly Marina Loaiza in Alexandria, Virginia, she first turned heads with her debut EP Por Vida in 2015, which featured production from Tyler, the Creator, Diplo, and Kaytranada. Her debut album Isolation followed in 2018 to widespread critical acclaim, scoring an 87 on Metacritic, and collaborations with Gorillaz, Daniel Caesar, and Jorja Smith helped cement her reputation as one of the more versatile voices in contemporary R&B. The Spanish language album Sin Miedo in 2020 opened things up even further, largely thanks to "Telepatía", which went viral on TikTok and landed her on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. Her third album Red Moon in Venus peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 in 2023, and she has since released Orquídeas and Sincerely, both peaking at number two. With over 29 million certified units from the RIAA, she is clearly connecting with a wide and growing audience.
