Perth's Karnivool have spent over two decades carving out a space where progressive and alternative rock meet with real weight and texture. The five piece, anchored by Ian Kenny's vocals alongside guitarists Drew Goddard and Mark Hosking, bassist Jon Stockman, and drummer Steve Judd, have built a reputation for dense, layered compositions that reward repeated listening. Their 2009 album Sound Awake debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA charts and hit No. 1 on the AIR charts, earning Gold certification in Australia and cementing their standing as one of the country's most serious rock acts. Their catalogue spans four studio albums, from the independently released Themata in 2005 through to Asymmetry in 2013, and a long awaited fourth record In Verses arriving in 2026. In 2025 they put out a visualiser for a track called Aozora, a sign that the band remains very much active after stretches of relative quiet between releases.
