About
Kasmir, the stage name of Finnish singer and producer Thomas Kirjonen, announced himself in a big way when his debut single "Vadelmavene" hit number one on the Finnish Singles Chart shortly after its April 2014 release. His debut solo album AMK Dropout followed later that year and made history as the first album in Finland to be certified gold based entirely on downloads and streams. Produced by Hank Solo and Jonas W. Karlsson, it marked a sharp turn from his earlier work as frontman of the Finnish rock band Collarbone, who put out two studio albums between 2007 and 2010. Kasmir works in pop soul and soul territory, and his profile kept growing through a string of featured appearances alongside Finnish acts like Sanni and Robin. He is signed as a songwriter to Elements Music and also took part in the sixth season of the popular Finnish music television series Vain elämää, which has a reputation for drawing out raw, stripped back performances from its participants.
