Kate Bollinger's song "Candy" ended up catching the ear of Kanye West, who used it as inspiration for his 2021 track "Donda". That kind of unexpected reach says a lot about the Charlottesville folk singer songwriter, whose early EPs were recorded with almost no budget and minimal production. Her 2019 EP "I Don't Wanna Lose" was tracked in a single day on borrowed studio time, and it still managed to turn heads. Since signing with Ghostly International, Bollinger has stepped up her output, releasing "Look at It in the Light" in 2022 and following it with her debut full length album "Songs from a Thousand Frames of Mind" in 2024. Her work has been featured regularly at The Line of Best Fit and she has performed for NPR's World Cafe, picking up a dedicated following for her warm, understated sound.
