About
Kees Prins is a Dutch actor, director, and singer songwriter probably best known for his long run on the absurdist sketch series Jiskefet, which he anchored alongside Herman Koch and Michiel Romeyn from 1990 to 2005. He won a Golden Calf for Best Actor for playing legendary Amsterdam singer Johnny Jordaan in the drama series Bij ons in de Jordaan, and later took on the role of shady property developer Huub Couwenberg in the series Overspel. Prins has always kept one foot firmly in music. He sang in the rock band Chaoz early on, then formed the duo De Duo's with Arjan Ederveen, and later played in Moondogs with guitarist and composer Vincent van Warmerdam, releasing the album Diamond in the Crowd. During football tournaments he performed as folk singer alter ego Melvin, complete with his own CD called Melvin's Elftal. His voice is also one of the most recognisable in Dutch broadcasting, having dubbed characters from Buzz Lightyear to Hopper, and recorded countless radio commercials including the famous Belastingdienst tagline.
