About
Kelman Duran has a pretty wild résumé: he co wrote and produced the opening track "I'm That Girl" and "Heated" on Beyoncé's Renaissance, and also scored the French film Rodeo. He made that soundtrack during pandemic lockdowns in Berlin, hunting for music that matched director Lola Quivoron's portrait of suburban angst. The Los Angeles Times called the result an "adrenalized soundscape". Before all that, Duran became a fixture at RAIL UP, a run of dance parties in LA's underground Afro Caribbean night scene. His solo records go in some striking directions. 1804 Kids nods to the Haitian Revolution, 13th Month is inspired by the Sioux calendar and pairs club release with heavier themes, and Night In Tijuana drifts through spiritual jazz, electronic and ambient sounds. Later releases include Scorpio falling and a collaborative record with SUUNS.
