About
Kiefer, the Los Angeles based pianist and producer, has built a reputation for blending jazz sensibility with hip hop textures in a way that feels genuinely fresh rather than gimmicky. His 2017 debut Kickinit Alone on Leaving Records set the tone, with Pitchfork describing the title track as a short piano phrase looping like it was ripped from a dusty vinyl and brought to life. After signing with Stones Throw, he dropped Happysad and a trilogy of EPs, leaning further into analog synths and more compositional songwriting with each release. His fingerprints are all over other artists' work too. He co produced "King James", the lead single from Anderson.Paak's Grammy winning album Ventura, and has made beats with Kaytranada, played alongside Moses Sumney and Terrace Martin, and is a regular fixture in Mndsgn's live setup. He also produced the 2022 version of Samsung's iconic Over The Horizon tone for the Galaxy S series, which says a lot about how far his sound travels.
