About
Kiki Rockwell builds worlds out of witchcraft, feminist rage, and European mythology, and somehow makes it all feel deeply personal. The New Zealand singer, songwriter, and producer launched her solo career in 2021 with the EP Bleeding Out In A Forest, which included "Same Old Energy", a track that draws on the history of witch hunts as a way of paying tribute to the women who suffered through them. Her debut album, Rituals on the Bank of a Familiar River, followed in 2023 and brought the standout "Cup Runneth Over", a queer love story set in a medieval world. Her second album, Eldest Daughter Of An Eldest Daughter, released in 2024, pulls together folk, electro, indie pop, and neo classical into something harder to pin down, circling themes of female rage, witches, and mythological figures like Circe and Persephone. The 2024 single "Syrena" also got the full music video treatment, hinting at more of that same richly imagined sonic universe she keeps expanding.
