About
Kingdom of Toto is a Dutch eight piece tribute band devoted entirely to the music of Toto, covering everything from the well known radio hits to the deeper cuts that earned the original group its reputation among musicians. Founded in 2020 by René Barthen, a student of former Toto drummer Simon Phillips, the band approaches the material with genuine understanding of what made Toto special: intricate arrangements, layered vocal harmonies, the Porcaro grooves, and those rich keyboard textures that defined the sound. The aim is a fully realised show rather than a run through familiar singles. In 2024 the band gained national exposure through the SBS6 television programme The Tribute, Battle of the Bands, where they impressed week after week. Steve Lukather, guitarist and co founder of Toto, publicly praised the way Kingdom of Toto keeps the music alive. Beyond the TV moment, the band tours theatres, pop venues and festivals across Europe.
