Koe Wetzel's music lands somewhere between a honky tonk and a mosh pit, blending country with grunge and punk rock in a way that's earned him a fiercely loyal following among college crowds. Born in Pittsburg, Texas, his full name is Ropyr Madison Koe Wetzel, with one of those names serving as a nod to outlaw country legend David Allan Coe. He's described his own sound as 'Hillbilly Punk Rock', and that pretty much tracks: the album Harold Saul High, for instance, he called '90s country meets early 2000s punk rock with early 90s grunge and hip hop in the background.' His breakout came with the 2016 album Noise Complaint, a rowdy record that caught fire with young listeners. Harold Saul High cracked the Billboard 200, and then came Sellout in 2020, released on Columbia Records with the title cheekily acknowledging the major label deal. In 2023 he expanded beyond music, becoming a partner in Koe Wetzel's Riot Room, a restaurant, bar and live music venue in Fort Worth, Texas.
