About
Kraftklub have been blending indie rock and rap in a way that feels distinctly their own since forming in Chemnitz around 2009, and they have a habit of going straight to number one. Their debut album Mit K hit the top of the German charts in 2012, their second album In Schwarz repeated the trick in 2014, and their 2025 release Sterben in Karl Marx Stadt debuted at number one in both Germany and Austria. They are tight with their hometown, openly calling Chemnitz by its old communist era name Karl Marx Stadt, even naming songs after it. Their most famous stunt was probably a surprise rooftop concert with K.I.Z in Chemnitz on Good Friday 2012, announced only hours beforehand, which drew enough of a crowd that police had to close off a nearby street. Polo shirts, varsity jackets and suspenders round out the look.
