About
Also known as: Alexander Davies
Kurtains, the Welsh producer and singer songwriter also known as Alexander Davies, operates somewhere in the blurry overlap between hyperpop, digicore, and glitch, and critics have struggled to pin him down any further than that. Earmilk called his sound ethereal and expansive, while Pitchfork's Kieran Press Reynolds memorably compared the stuttering energy of his track Rain to K.K. Slider from Animal Crossing, which tells you a lot about the weird, playful corner of the internet he occupies. He is part of the collective slowsilver03, alongside quinn, Wido, and glaive, and has been building his catalogue since 2020. That collaboration with glaive eventually produced the album God Save the Three, a project that cements his place in a genuinely restless, hard to categorise scene.
