Lacey Sturm made history in February 2016 when she became the first solo female artist to top the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart, with her debut solo record Life Screams landing at No. 74 on the Billboard 200 and cracking the top ten on both Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums. Before that, she was the voice of Flyleaf, the alternative rock band she helped build from scratch in the early 2000s, and her raw, intense vocal style became the defining sound of that group for over a decade. She left Flyleaf in 2012, citing the death of the band's sound engineer as the moment that shifted her priorities, before returning in November 2022 under the banner Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm. Her guest work is just as impressive. She picked up a Grammy nomination at the 52nd Grammy Awards for her feature on Third Day's "Born Again", and has collaborated with Apocalyptica, Orianthi, Breaking Benjamin, and Love and Death, among others. Her solo output has continued with tracks like "The Soldier" and the 2021 official video for "Awaken Love", keeping her rock credentials firmly intact.
