About
Also known as: Lee Ritentour, リー・リトナー
Lee Ritenour has one of the more unlikely resumes in jazz guitar. He was sitting in on sessions as a teenager, landed on a Pink Floyd record, and helped launch one of smooth jazz's most enduring supergroups. In 1979 he was brought in to beef up the guitar on "Run Like Hell" from The Wall, and he also played uncredited rhythm guitar on "One of My Turns". His solo career kicked off with First Course in 1976, and by the early 80s he was folding pop into his fusion sound. "Is It You," with vocals by Eric Tagg, cracked the Billboard pop chart. Later he explored Brazilian flavors on the nylon string album Festival and went straight ahead on Stolen Moments. In 1991 he co founded Fourplay with Bob James, staying until 1997. Along the way he collected Grammy nominations, including one for Earth Run.
