About
Leia, born Larissa Ayumi Cartes Sakata, holds a genuinely unique spot in K pop history as the first Brazilian woman to debut in a K pop girl group. The Brazilian and Japanese rapper, singer and dancer made her mark as a member of Blackswan, joining the group in 2020 after years of training in South Korea. She first caught the attention of Korean entertainment when she was just 12 years old, passing an audition by Pledis Entertainment held in her hometown of Curitiba. Her path to Blackswan included a near debut with BP Rania before that group rebranded and ceased activities. Multilingual in Portuguese, English, Korean and Japanese, Leia brings a rare cross cultural background to the K pop world, and her story has made her a recognisable figure well beyond the usual fandom circles.
