About
Also known as: Helena Hubertina Johanna Kuhr, Lennie Kuhr
One of four co winners at the 1969 Eurovision Song Contest, Lenny Kuhr took the top spot with "De troubadour", a song she wrote herself. That shared victory launched an international career that, perhaps surprisingly, found its biggest early audience in France rather than the Netherlands. She toured there in 1970 as support for Georges Brassens, and by late 1971 had scored a French top 10 hit with "Jesus Christo", shifting over 100,000 copies. Back home, her biggest Dutch hit came in 1980 with "Visite", recorded alongside French group Les Poppys. She has kept releasing records steadily since then, covering pop, kleinkunst and singer songwriter territory across a catalogue that stretches well into the 2020s. In 2021 she performed "De troubadour" live at the Eurovision Grand Final in Rotterdam, and later recorded the song in five additional languages including French, German and Spanish.
