About
Leo Blokhuis is a music storyteller who has built a show around one of pop's most compelling dynamics: fathers and sons. The performance, called Father and Son, pairs his deep dives into musical history with live guitar playing by his son Marius, who completed his conservatory training in 2025. Together they explore what happens when music runs in the family, asking whether shared passion is a gift or a burden, and whether a famous father's shadow lifts or crushes the next generation. The pairs they examine are fascinating: Tim and Jeff Buckley, Jim and AJ Croce, Johnny and Shuggie Otis, and the various Lennon men across two generations. Cat Stevens wrote about the distance between fathers and sons, Peter Gabriel about the bond. Leo weaves these stories together while Marius illustrates them with songs played live, rounding things out with recorded clips from Leo's laptop.
