Leo Middea has spent years turning the Brazilian diaspora experience into music, weaving bossa nova, samba and MPB together with electronic textures and contemporary pop in a way that feels both deeply rooted and genuinely modern. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he built his early reputation through relentless touring across Brazil and South America before relocating to Lisbon, where street performances eventually gave way to stages in Paris, Amsterdam and beyond. His fifth album Gente, produced in Amsterdam, hit a million streams within a month and brought in guests like Mallu Magalhães, while his sixth record Notícias de Puglia was written and recorded on the road. In 2024 he became the first Brazilian artist to reach the final of Portugal's Festival da Canção, finishing runner up, and that same year he played the Montreux Jazz Festival and clocked over 100 concerts. With more than 20 million Spotify streams accumulated, he keeps proving that MPB travels well.
