Leo Sayer built one of the more remarkable run of hits in 1970s pop, with his first seven UK singles all cracking the top 10. He broke through wearing a pierrot costume on British TV, performing the music hall flavoured "The Show Must Go On", which shot to number two in the UK and was later covered by Three Dog Night. His writing credits stretch further than you might expect too, since he co wrote Roger Daltrey's first solo hit before his own recording career even got going. The peak came with back to back US number ones: the Grammy winning disco groove "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" and the swooning ballad "When I Need You". His 1976 album Endless Flight went platinum in both the UK and the US, and double platinum in Canada. He even guest starred on The Muppet Show. Decades later, a remix of his 1977 track "Thunder in My Heart" hit number one in the UK all over again, proof that his songs have a habit of finding new audiences.
