Levitation Room got their name from a mushroom trip in the studio where frontman Julian Porte felt himself levitating, which tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the vibe they're going for. The Los Angeles psych rock band have been building their sound since 2012, drawing on a classic influences list that runs from The Beatles and Pink Floyd through to Buffalo Springfield and Bob Dylan. They played the very first Psycho Fest in 2013, and their debut album Ethos landed on Burger Records in 2016. Over three studio albums they've sharpened their spacey, shimmer heavy sound, described by Psychedelic Baby Magazine as "clean, spacey, and meandering in a mildly controlled manner." Their third album Strange Weather, released in 2024 via Greenway Records, earned them some of the strongest reviews of their career, with New Noise Magazine calling it their most transcendent release to date. On tour they've reportedly encountered a UFO in the desert and a bandmate allegedly got spooked by a ghost in a hotel room, so the supernatural seems to follow them around.
