About
Linea Aspera named themselves after the ridge on the back of the human femur, and that tells you something about how they operate: sharp, precise, and rooted in something anatomical and strange. The London duo of vocalist Zoè Zanias and synthesizer programmer Ryan Ambridge builds their sound around 1980s influenced electronic music that sits comfortably in dark wave and minimal synth territory. Zanias handles all the lyrics while Ambridge constructs, mixes, and produces the electronics, a clean division that gives the band a tight, deliberate feel. After releasing their debut LP through Dark Entries Records in 2012 and briefly disbanding in early 2013, they returned in 2019 and put out their second album LP II in 2020. That record included tracks like Synapse, Eviction, and Malarone. In 2024 they released Mycelium, their first new song in four years, proving the duo is far from done.
