About
Little Dragon got their name from the "fuming tantrums" vocalist Yukimi Nagano was known to throw in the studio, which says something about the intensity the Gothenburg foursome brings to their craft. Their sound sits somewhere between trip hop, electropop and downtempo electronica, with Nagano's airy, soulful vocals anchoring the whole thing. They signed to Peacefrog Records and put out their self titled debut in 2007, then kept building momentum through Machine Dreams and Ritual Union, the latter landing at number 41 on Rolling Stone's 50 Best Albums of 2011. Their fourth album, Nabuma Rubberband, drew inspiration from Janet Jackson's slow jams and earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. A collaboration with Gorillaz on Plastic Beach brought them to a much wider audience, appearing on "Empire Ants" and "To Binge" after Damon Albarn's wife put him onto them. They have kept releasing music steadily, with their seventh album Slugs of Love arriving in 2023.
