About
Lucius built their reputation on the striking vocal twin dynamic between Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, who dress alike on stage and blend their voices into something uncanny and instantly recognizable. Founded in Brooklyn in 2007 and now based in Los Angeles, the four piece has put out a string of albums that shift in tone but never lose that eerie vocal chemistry. Their debut full length Wildewoman drew comparisons to 60s girl groups filtered through baroque pop and folk, while the follow up Good Grief pushed into moody synth territory with raw, personal lyrics. Beyond their own records, Wolfe and Laessig have become go to collaborators, lending their voices to sessions with Roger Waters, Harry Styles, Brandi Carlile, Mavis Staples, Joni Mitchell and a long list of others. Paste named them one of the best live acts in 2015, and their Tiny Desk Concert from 2013 still gets talked about as a standout. The band has since released a self titled album in 2025, their fourth studio record overall.
