Magnetic Spacemen are a garage rock band from Zwolle, Netherlands, built around singer, guitarist and songwriter Sam Pols. They put out their debut album I Don't Wanna Grow Up in 2016, a rough and tumble mix of garage, punk and rock and roll, and spent those early years on the road with acts like John Coffey, Together Pangea and Peter Pan Speedrock. A lineup shake up in 2017 led to a refreshed four piece with Pols switching from bass to guitar, joined by bassist and keyboardist Redmer Kamsma and guitarist Michiel Kemper. Their 2021 album Papoya Poya broadened things out, folding surf and psychedelic rock into the garage sound. Kamsma produced it himself and it earned strong reviews from outlets like 3voor12 and Never Mind The Hype. Their 2023 follow up Polished Minds pushed further still, taking on heavier lyrical territory around grief and loss while the music leaned into organs, synthesizers and percussion alongside the guitars. OOR and 3voor12 were fans of that one too.
