About
Mahogany is a duo built around Andrew Prinz and Jaclyn Slimm, who pull together post punk, shoegaze, disco, and classical music into what they call symphonic, architectural compositions. The two play twin 12 string guitars alongside massive bass, densely layered rhythms, and an array of synthesisers and samplers, aiming for an immersive sound they've branded the "Hypercube." Their catalogue includes two full length albums, The Dream of the Modern Day and Connectivity!, plus a double disc collection of singles, EPs, and compilation material called Memory Column. More recent output includes the expansive eight minute piece "Phase Break" and the limited deluxe vinyl single "A Scaffold," which picked up praise from Brooklyn Vegan. Away from their own releases, they've taken on production, design, and remix work for artists such as Ulrich Schnauss, The Veldt, and Lovesliescrushing. On stage they've shared bills with Vampire Weekend, Spoon, Bloc Party, Interpol, and Broadcast, among others, and have been written up in Pitchfork, The Wire, The New York Times, and The Guardian.
