Maisie Peters made history with her second album, The Good Witch, becoming the youngest solo British female artist in nearly a decade to hit number one on the UK Albums Chart, following Ella Henderson back in 2014. Released in June 2023 and described by Peters herself as a "twisted version of a breakup album", it spawned singles like "Body Better" and "Lost the Breakup" and later got a deluxe edition with six extra tracks. She won the inaugural Rolling Stone UK Breakthrough Award that same year. The West Sussex singer and songwriter came up through Atlantic Records before joining Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records in 2021, where she put out her debut album You Signed Up for This. A run as support act on Sheeran's massive world tour helped build her fanbase considerably, and she later opened for Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium in August 2024. Her sound sits comfortably in the pop and indie pop space, with a confessional, sharp songwriting style that has become her calling card.
