About
Winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with 224 points put Malena on the map in a big way. The Armenian singer, performing under the name Maléna, took the prize in Paris with "Qami Qami", a space pop track she co wrote herself, about staying true to who you are. She was only fourteen at the time, and the win meant Armenia got to host the following year's contest. Since then she has kept busy. A cover of Modern Talking's "Cheri Cheri Lady" went viral on TikTok across Indonesia and Vietnam in early 2023, hitting the top of iTunes there and landing on the Billboard Vietnam Hot 100. She has also been co writing entries for younger Armenian artists heading to Junior Eurovision, and picked up a UNICEF Armenia Goodwill Ambassador role along the way. Inspired by pop and R&B, with Jaden Smith and Rosalía as her go to influences, she is clearly shaping up to be more than a one contest story.
