About

Andy Hull has been the engine behind Manchester Orchestra since the Atlanta band formed in 2004, and he remains the only original member still standing. Over six studio albums and a handful of EPs, the band has carved out a sound that moves fluidly between quiet, confessional indie rock and dense, heavy post hardcore, sometimes within the same song. Records like Simple Math and A Black Mile to the Surface show that range at its best, while the 2014 pairing of Cope and its acoustic companion Hope remains one of the more inventive moves in their catalog. Their seventh record The Million Masks of God arrived in 2021, followed by The Valley of Vision in 2023. Along the way they have played Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Reading and Leeds, and Hull has kept busy with the Bad Books side project alongside Kevin Devine. More recently they shared a cover of Mazzy Star's Fade Into You, which sits interestingly alongside the heavier corners of their back catalog.
