About
Also known as: Mattandkim
Matt and Kim are a Brooklyn duo built around Matt Johnson on keyboards and vocals and Kim Schifino on drums, and their music is basically pure energy in recorded form. Upbeat, danceable indie pop with a DIY spirit, their live shows are notorious for being loud and chaotic in the best way. Their 2009 album Grand was a turning point: the single "Daylight" went gold, landed in TV spots and video games, and got a De La Soul remix. The video for "Lessons Learned" from the same album, shot in one take with the pair stripping naked in Times Square, won the Breakthrough Video Award at the MTV VMAs. They have since released six studio albums in total, including New Glow in 2015 and Almost Everyday in 2018, and have played major festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza.
