About
Matthijn Buwalda makes nederpop that sits somewhere between a good story and a good song. His shows blend new material with older favourites, and he weaves personal anecdotes through the whole thing, so a night with him feels more like a conversation than a concert. The through line in his work is something like radical ordinariness: he writes about everyday life, about losing control, about failing and getting back up, and somehow keeps it all stubbornly hopeful without ever tipping into sentimentality. Disarming and unpretentious are words that follow him around for good reason.
