About
Mayday Parade came together in Tallahassee, Florida, in 2005 when two local bands, Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment, merged into one. Their debut EP Tales Told by Dead Friends took off fast, selling over 50,000 copies without any label support, largely because the band physically walked venue parking lots selling copies to people waiting in line. That hustle caught the attention of Fearless Records, and their debut album A Lesson in Romantics followed in 2007, eventually going gold with 200,000 copies sold in the US. The song Miserable at Best also earned a gold certification on its own. Over the years they have stacked up a solid discography across pop punk, emo and alternative rock, signing to Atlantic Records in 2009 and later to Rise Records in 2018. Their seventh studio album What It Means to Fall Apart came out in 2021, and they have kept the momentum going with a ambitious three part album project: Sweet dropped in April 2025, with the recent single Under My Sweater appearing the same year.
