Few Dutch artists break through quite like Meau did with 'Dat heb jij gedaan', a song she almost kept off the radio because of how personal it was. Written about emotional abuse in a toxic relationship, it ended up sitting at number one on the Dutch Top 40 for eight weeks in 2022, while she was still working a day job at the Rijksmuseum. The nederpop singer from Weesp builds her music around honest, direct Dutch lyrics, and that approach clearly resonates. Her debut album 22, released in May 2023, reached the top ten of the Dutch Albums Chart and won an Edison Award for best Dutch language release. She has also shown a knack for well matched collaborations, teaming up with Racoon on 'Dans m'n ogen dicht' and with Belgian singer Pommelien Thijs on 'Het midden', which hit number one in Flanders. Her 2024 track 'Stukje van mij', about the consequences of sexting and revenge porn, won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions awards.
