About
MEJIBRAY built a devoted following in Japan's visual kei scene by pushing the genre toward heavier territory, blending hard rock and heavy metal with touches of djent and nu metal. Founded in Tokyo in 2011 by vocalist Tsuzuku, the band hit their stride fast: their single "Sabato" cracked the top five on Oricon's Indies charts, and their best album SM reached number twelve on the full Oricon Albums Chart. They sold out three consecutive nights at Ikebukuro Black Hole not long after forming, which gives you a sense of the momentum they had early on. Their catalog spans studio albums, EPs, and a string of singles that guitarist MiA often composed himself. In 2014 they made their first international appearance in Shanghai alongside Nightmare and Royz, and they kept a relentless release pace through 2017. That December, though, bassist Koichi and vocalist Tsuzuku abruptly ended their contracts, leaving the remaining members in limbo. The two went on to launch a new project called 8P SB, and Tsuzuku reverted to his original stage name Genki.
