Few guitarists have left fingerprints on as many records as Michael Landau. The Los Angeles native spent the 1980s and 1990s as one of the most in demand session players in the business, showing up on albums by Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart, and dozens more. Alongside fellow session guns like Steve Lukather and Dann Huff, he helped define the sound of major label recordings coming out of LA during that era. Beyond the studio, Landau has built a catalog under his own name and through bands like Raging Honkies and Burning Water, mixing blues rock, jazz fusion, and rock into something that's unmistakably his. Fender recognized his influence by collaborating with him on a signature Stratocaster and releasing a signature amplifier based on the Hot Rod DeVille III. His discography as a solo artist spans decades, with releases like Organic Instrumentals and Rock Bottom showing he has plenty to say outside of anyone else's session.
