About
Also known as: Mike Snow
Miike Snow is a Stockholm based trio built around Swedish production duo Bloodshy & Avant, Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, and American singer Andrew Wyatt. Before forming the band in 2007, Karlsson and Winnberg had already racked up serious songwriting credits, including a Grammy for producing Britney Spears' "Toxic", and sessions with Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Kelis. That polished studio instinct carries straight into Miike Snow's sound, which lands somewhere between synth pop sheen and indietronica warmth. Their self titled 2009 debut gave the world "Animal", a track that became the unlikely theme to the British sitcom Friday Night Dinner via a Punks Jump Up remix. Two more albums followed: Happy to You in 2012, featuring a collaboration with Lykke Li, and iii in 2016, which spawned the slick and widely shared video for "Genghis Khan". The Guardian once compared them to A ha meeting Animal Collective, which is a pretty decent shorthand for what they do.
