Molly Tuttle made history in 2017 as the first woman to win the International Bluegrass Music Association's Guitar Player of the Year award, then turned around and won it again the following year. Her flatpicking, clawhammer, and crosspicking technique set her apart in the bluegrass world, and her reputation grew fast enough to land her the Americana Music Association's Instrumentalist of the Year in 2018. She signed to Compass Records and released her debut solo album When You're Ready in 2019, followed by But I'd Rather Be with You in 2020. Things really clicked when she put together her band Golden Highway. Their album Crooked Tree won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2023, and its follow up City of Gold took the same prize the next year. Both records also picked up International Bluegrass Music Awards along the way. In 2025 she announced a new all female band and a forthcoming album, So Long Little Miss Sunshine, produced by Jay Joyce.
