Monika Liu, born Monika Liubinaitė in Klaipėda, Lithuania, blends jazz training and electronic pop sensibility into a sound that critics have compared to a "strongly electro pop version of Björk". Her path took her through jazz and vocal studies at Klaipėda University and then Berklee College of Music in Boston, before she settled in London to write and record. She has worked with producer Mario Basanov, collaborated with the electronic music collective Silence, and in 2020 released her vinyl album Melodija, recorded in the UK with producer Miles James. She is probably best known internationally for "Sentimentai", the entirely Lithuanian language song that won her country's national selection Pabandom iš naujo! in early 2022 and went straight to the top of the Lithuanian singles chart. At Eurovision 2022 in Turin she finished 14th in the Grand Final, making Lithuania's first fully Lithuanian language Eurovision entry since 1994. Back home she is also a familiar face on television, having served as a judge on The Voice Lithuania and a jury member on The Masked Singer Lithuania.
