About
Also known as: Alex Crossan, Alexander Crossan, Alexander George Edward Crossan
Mura Masa, the project of Guernsey born producer Alex Crossan, built a reputation for blending electronic textures with hip hop, R&B and pop in ways that kept pulling in unexpected collaborators. His 2016 track "Lovesick" with ASAP Rocky is probably the one that put him on the map, but his reach goes further than that: he co wrote "First Things First" on Stormzy's number one album Gang Signs & Prayer, worked with Damon Albarn and Charli XCX on his self titled debut, and his remix of Haim's "Walking Away" took home a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording. That debut album landed Grammy nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Recording Package, which is a rare double for a producer still in his early twenties. More recently, Crossan produced PinkPantheress's "Boy's a Liar", a track whose remix with Ice Spice cracked the top three on the US Billboard Hot 100. He also linked up with Pa Salieu and Skillibeng for "blessing me" and featured Lil Uzi Vert, PinkPantheress and Shygirl on "bbycakes", showing his knack for pairing artists who have no obvious reason to be on the same track.
