Three pianists from very different corners of music take on the Beatles songbook together: Roel van Velzen from rock, Ruben Hein from jazz and soul, and Daria van den Bercken from the classical world. The idea is to use the Beatles as a way to show off how rich and varied music can be, so they pick apart the soul, jazz, Motown and classical threads running through the songs. Expect the big hits, but also lesser known gems from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The White Album and Abbey Road, played on a whole arsenal of keyboard instruments. Between songs the trio swap stories, asking things like why some Beatles tunes sound like nineteenth century music, or what Fats Domino has to do with any of it. A drummer and guitarist (Julian du Perron) and a bass and double bass player (Nathalie Schaap) back them up. Van Velzen has won a Schaal van Rigter and a Gouden Harp, and Hein took the Edison audience award for Soul & Jazz and won the TV show Wie Is de Mol.
