About
My Darling Clementine are a Birmingham duo built around the partnership of Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish, whose music sits squarely in the tradition of the great American country duos of the 1960s and 1970s, think Tammy Wynette and George Jones, or Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. They bring serious pedigree to the project: King led The Good Sons, a band Mojo once called England's very own Uncle Tupelo, and has racked up over ten solo albums plus collaborations with the likes of Townes Van Zandt and Chris Hillman. Dalgleish, meanwhile, has worked with Bryan Ferry and The Brodsky Quartet, among others. Their debut album How Do You Plead? picked up the 2012 Americana Music Artist of the Year at the British Country Music Awards, and their second record The Reconciliation? brought in producer Colin Elliot and guests including Kinky Friedman. By 2017 they were pushing into soul and gospel territory with Still Testifying, showing the duo are never quite content to stand still.
