About
Narrow Head started out trying to fuse 1990s alternative rock with emo, drawing on touchstones like My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana and Hum, and ended up helping define an entire micro genre along the way. The Dallas born, Houston based band is widely credited as one of the first acts to blend soft grunge with shoegaze into what critics now call grungegaze, a sound that sits somewhere between fuzzy distortion and dreamy atmospherics. Led by vocalist and guitarist Jacob Duarte, the group built their reputation through relentless touring before signing to Run for Cover Records in 2020. Their 2020 album 12th House Rock brought them wider recognition, and they followed it up with Moments of Clarity in 2023, their third full length. Influences stretch from Slowdive and Sonic Youth to Deftones and even the Carpenters, which gives you a sense of how eclectic the palette is. With a discography that includes three studio albums and a string of well regarded EPs and singles, Narrow Head have quietly become a key name in the shoegaze and post grunge conversation.
