About
Also known as: Maekromantic, Necromantix, Nekromantix, The, The Nekromantix
Copenhagen's Nekromantix have been scaring up dancefloors since 1989, blending psychobilly, horror punk and rockabilly into something that feels like a graveyard party with a serious groove. The beating heart of the band is founder Kim Nekroman, the only constant member across decades of lineup shuffles, and his signature "coffinbass", a custom upright bass built in the shape of a coffin with a cross shaped headstock, is one of the most recognisable instruments in underground music. Monster and horror themes run through everything they do. After building a cult following across Europe and Japan through five albums on European labels, they broke into American audiences by signing to Hellcat Records in the early 2000s. The 2002 album Return of the Loving Dead was their first widely distributed US release and plugged them into a growing west coast psychobilly scene alongside bands like Tiger Army. Since then they have put out a string of albums on Hellcat, with their eighth studio record What Happens in Hell, Stays in Hell arriving in 2011, followed by A Symphony Of Wolf Tones and Ghost Notes in 2016.
