Few bands from Columbus, Ohio managed to drag punk rock into such gloriously unhinged territory as the New Bomb Turks. Formed at Ohio State University in 1990, the quartet built their sound around what Alternative Press once called "prole threat punk bashery and destructo rock" fused into something all their own, drawing early inspiration from the Devil Dogs, Lazy Cowgirls, and Didjits among others. Over their run they put out ten full length LPs, two EPs, and more than twenty singles across labels including Crypt Records, Epitaph, and Gearhead Records. Highlights include the raw energy of !!Destroy Oh Boy!!, the Epitaph trilogy of Scared Straight, At Rope's End, and Nightmare Scenario, and three b side and outtakes collections that reward the obsessive diggers. Singer Eric Davidson also channelled his obsession into the written word, publishing We Never Learn: The Gunk Punk Undergut, 1988 to 2001, a deep dive into the lo fi garage punk underground.
