Few rappers have reshaped the genre the way Nicki Minaj has. Her 2010 debut Pink Friday opened with the largest female rap album sales week of the 21st century, topped the Billboard 200, and gave the world "Super Bass". She kept pivoting from there, leaning into dance pop on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded with "Starships", then pulling back to harder hip hop on The Pinkprint and Queen, the latter spawning "Anaconda" and "Chun Li". Her fifth album, Pink Friday 2, made her the female rapper with the most US number one albums and produced her first solo chart topper, "Super Freaky Girl". Minaj has sold over 100 million records worldwide, holds three diamond certified singles, and in 2024 became the first female rapper with multiple diamond certified solo songs from the RIAA. Billboard and Vibe both ranked her the greatest female rapper of all time in 2023. Beyond the records, she founded her own label imprint, Heavy On It, hosted Queen Radio for five years, and picked up a Brit Award, the MTV Video Vanguard Award, and eleven BET Awards along the way.
