About
Night Tapes make the kind of music that sounds best at 2am with the lights low: dream pop laced with ambient electronics, trip hop rhythms and the layered vocals of Estonian singer Iiris Vesik drifting over minimalist synths and drum loops. The London trio formed almost by accident when Vesik, drummer Max Doohan and guitarist Sam Richards were housemates in South London, turning late night improvised sessions into a band. Their 2019 debut single "Forever" quietly became an underground pandemic anthem, eventually clearing ten million streams on Spotify. Signed to Nettwerk in 2022, they built momentum through a string of EPs, with the 2023 single "drifting" becoming their biggest track yet. Their debut album portals//polarities arrived in September 2025, written partly on the road and built from field recordings gathered across Estonia, Mexico and Los Angeles. NME put them on the cover that same month, with reviewers describing the record as both deeply atmospheric and unexpectedly catchy.
