About
Nim Vind is the project of Canadian songwriter Chris Kirkham, who calls his sound "Music for Outsiders". Horror punk gets slapped on it a lot, though he'd say there's no real genre, and the press has name checked the Misfits, Social Distortion and Volbeat while he keeps pointing to David Bowie as a major influence. The name itself is invented on purpose, a character's name that nods to the acronym N.I.M.H. and to the word "vindication", loosely meaning freedom by insanity. His third album, Saturday Night Seance Songs, features mixes from Jay Ruston and Todd Rundgren, and Rue Morgue magazine named it Album of the Year. Before going solo he fronted Mr. Underhill, a cult band that blended Bauhaus gloom with Misfits hooks. He's played Summer Breeze and the Wave Gotik Treffen in Germany, toured Europe repeatedly, and shared stages with Gary Numan, Christian Death and the 69 Eyes. In 2019 he put out White Magic, a mashup of two Bowie songs, and the single Sagittarius, inspired by a black hole.
