After four solo albums in English, Diederik Nomden made the move to singing in his native Dutch, a shift his audiences had long been pushing him towards. A song called 'Oldambt', about the region in the east of Groningen province where he grew up, became a standout moment during his theatre tour ROOTS and convinced him the language switch was worth making. He had already written a handful of Dutch language songs for the theatre piece 'Hanna van Hendrik', so the foundations were there. His Dutch language album VERS brought those threads together. In his live shows Nomden pairs songs from that record with a selection of favourites from Dutch pop history, all delivered in the storytelling style his fans recognise: emotionally engaging but never heavy handed.
