About
Few Dutch rock bands managed to generate serious buzz in the UK during the nineties, but Daryll Ann from Ermelo pulled it off. Their 1994 EP "I Could Never Love You" had Melody Maker calling it single of the week, and their follow up album Seaborne West earned the same praise when it landed in 1995, even scoring a US release. They shared stages with The Smashing Pumpkins, The Verve and Cracker, and played Pinkpop and Lowlands more than once. Despite the critical love, commercial success stayed out of reach throughout their run. Over six studio albums released between 1992 and 2004, Daryll Ann kept refining their alternative rock sound, with Jelle Paulusma and Anne Soldaat as the main songwriting force. Their final album Don't Stop came out in February 2004, and just a few months later the band quietly called it quits. They were also the first act ever signed to Dutch label Excelsior Recordings, which says something about the mark they left on the Dutch music scene.
